I found that IMC tutoring sessions are very challenging which made the tutoring sessions more enjoyable. My tutor Sam gave many examples to help me understand the concept of what he was trying to teach us. As I am a much more of a visual learner it helped me learn the concept faster and better. I found IMC really helped me in maths quizzes. I found that the homework sometimes was really hard in some aspects and topics.

First and foremost, Eric's knowledge of the course and beyond is impeccable. I honestly can't recall a time Eric couldn't answer a question, let alone explain the concept clearly and in a variety of way. What sets Eric apart from a lot of tutors is how he combines that knowledge with a versatile ability to teach in a form that aligns with your version of thinking. There is no rote learning of concepts, rather, Eric helps you fully understand the causation and underlying reasoning.
Eric is very patient and doesn't get upset no matter how many times you make the same silly mistake. Unlike sometimes at school or with past tutors, I felt comfortable asking what I thought were 'dumb' or 'basic' questions to Eric, which is really important in preventing roadblocks in your learning.

My name is Chris and I will complete my HSC in 2017 and am currently undertaking the preliminary course in Extension 1 Mathematics. I have known Eric for over a year now. He was referred to me by an Abbotsleigh Year 12 student pleased with the progress she had made with his help. I see Eric for one hour each week. He is reliable, interested and very approachable, especially when it comes to hard questions which students often find most difficult to ask about. He chats to my mum about my progress and makes valuable suggestions as to how I can balance maths with my other subjects and study most effectively. Eric is also helpful in giving advice about making the most of school resources and parent teacher interviews. I am always relaxed in his company, and his weekly homework pushes me to consistently try harder and do more to reach my full potential. Eric has been teaching me since the end of year 8 up until now. He has provided me with a lot of support and consistent help in guiding and teaching me maths. As a year 11 student, maths has always been the subject that i have been least confident in. He has provided me with a wide range of resources to work from, including past papers from several schools, majority of textbooks, possible exam questions, and even some of his own questions. It is great, as he builds on a strong foundation and excels you further with problem solving skills.
Now taking up the Extension 1 maths course, i have continued to work harder and most undoubtedly, i have improved exponentially. The homework given is not your typical tutoring college with endless rounds of repetitive questions, but rather quality questions that allow for exposure to all types of questions.

However, my friend recommended Eric to me and suggested that I should ask him to tutor me in order to lift my marks. No doubt since I started getting tutored by Eric my maths marks have drastically increased from what it previously was in year 11 and are continuing to increase. I can strongly say that Eric has removed that hatred within me towards maths because through his teachings I have gained a better and more clearer understanding of maths which has resulted in my improvement, an improvement which I was not previously able to achieve.

The reasons on why he is such a great teacher are beyond comprehension. I try my hardest in class just so I have the ability to impress eric during our lessons and I attempt to do all my work so that I can maintain at a high standard and be able to keep up to the high expectations that eric has on me. His tutoring abilities are extensive and exquisite as he is also able to challenge your mind as well as teach you how to do calculations without any problem. His ability to aid you to fully understand the topic and help you increase your knowledge as well. Eric has great skills as a teacher but also a mentor as well. His maths abilities are extensive so that he is able to teach whatever course you are doing, Year 7-10 and General, 2U, Extension and even the hardest of them all extension 2. He is always there if you need help with any mathematics related topics as well as his ability to explain the answer and question to you is really helpful. Eric is one of the many reasons why I love maths and why I try so hard in it.

I feel more confident with my maths work since meeting Eric. In year 7, I’d sit at the back of the class, I didn’t feel confident, I didn’t fully understand the topics and I never really answered questions in class.
After tutoring with Eric through year 7, things started to get better in year 8. I felt more confident and started to do much better in my tests. By the time I got to year 9, I had improved so much that I was placed into 5.3 – the highest maths class and I have continued to do well. I can answer most of the questions and feel a lot more confident now.
Eric explains maths in a way that I can understand. He gives me homework every week and this has been very helpful. If you don’t understand something – he’ll explain it & go through examples with you until you do.
I would highly recommend Eric if you are looking to improve your maths results – I feel lucky to have him as my tutor.
